About Us:

Athens Psychedelic Therapy is the sole therapy practice in Athens, Georgia specializing in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and complementary clinical services. We are clinician-owned and run. Founded in 2021, our team members are trained by the leading research and training institutes in the US (MAPS, IPI, Polaris Institute) to offer ketamine-assisted therapy and other psychedelic assisted therapies as they become available. We are committed to excellence in clinical care, improving access to these cutting-edge therapies, and training and mentoring new providers. Our areas of specialization include Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, Trauma-focused Psychotherapy, Substance Use Disorders, and Psychedelic Integration Therapy.

Responsibility Summary:

The Psychedelic Therapist will serve individuals through intake, assessment, and treatment following a standard protocol for ketamine-assisted therapy. Treatment is normally completed in approximately 2 months, and clients are encouraged to have a regular therapist for ongoing support. Psychedelic Therapists will never prescribe or administer medications but will provide supportive therapy to clients before and after ketamine treatments. Therapists may also co-facilitate psychoeducational, therapy, and/or support groups and provide phone consultations to prospective clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

Conduct clinical intake/assessments to determine appropriateness for ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP)

Provide individual therapy to clients in preparation for KAP and integration therapy after treatments

Collaborate with patients, primary therapists, office management, medical providers, and pharmacy services, as needed

Participate in interdisciplinary consultation groups with other therapists and medical providers

Maintain medical charts via an Electronic Health Records system, including all required documentation of treatment interventions, treatment plans and intake assessments within 24 hours of service provision

Maintain confidentiality of records and patient PHI as required by law

Prepare and maintain therapy offices and shared workspaces in a professional manner for team use

Attend and participate in regular supervision, consultation, team meetings, and training as needed


Qualifications:

Master’s degree in a mental health field (Social Work, Professional Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, etc.)

Minimum of an associate license (LMSW, LAPC, etc.) to practice therapy in the state of Georgia

14 hours of training in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy from a reputable training organization (contact for details or questions; must be completed before starting to work with clients; example trainings listed below)

Experience with psychotherapy/counseling with adults

Trauma-informed approach and training

Experience working with clients diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and trauma-related conditions

Exceptional ability to build rapport with clients and a client-centered mindset

Positive, collaborative working style

Experience with medical documentation in an electronic health record


Preferred Qualifications:

Independent license to practice therapy in the state of Georgia (LCSW, LPC, LMFT)

Completed a Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy training program with a reputable training organization (generally 30-60 hours)

Experience with providing psychotherapy in a private practice setting

Training in Internal Family Systems or other parts work modality

Background in psychedelic-assisted therapies, mindfulness-based therapies, Somatic Experiencing, and similar modalities

Integrated, lived experiences that support clinical competencies are welcomed


Details:

Psychedelic Therapist will be hired on a contract basis at a rate of $75-90 per clinical hour, depending on license and experience. The therapist needs to be available for a minimum of 12-16 hours per week; more hours are available. The therapist will be provided with office space, EHR access and documentation for KAP, and regular supervision and/or consultation.
